The degree programme can be completed in different formats. Depending on the chosen format, the degree programme takes between six and eleven semesters to complete.
The initial “basic principles and orientation subjects” stage provides broadly based training in the fundamental principles of engineering science, with the opportunity to expand your specialist and auxiliary skills in application-focused projects. This stage is spent studying general engineering in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
After progressing to the advanced course, you will expand your knowledge of networked technical systems and work on aspects of the subject areas
The degree programme is rounded off with the practical semester (this is recognised in part-time format), which includes practical support modules and the bachelor’s thesis.
Upon successfully completing this degree programme, the university of applied sciences will award you the academic title of Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) .
Professional environment:
Networking, digitalisation, individualisation and internationalisation are the key terms associated with Industry 4.0. Pivotal positions in future production processes will call for staff who look beyond the horizon, possess expertise in information technology and engineering, and can use this across networks. The degree programme in Systems Engineering enables you to work on and look after continuously developing complex technical systems in production environments.
Career prospects:
Graduate systems engineers are in very high demand across a broad range of sectors right now, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Businesses engaged in national and international development and manufacturing, e.g. automation engineering, robotics, automotive construction, aerospace and medical technology, are increasingly looking for engineers with a broad interdisciplinary educational background. Demand is growing particularly steeply in electrotechnology, IT and system technology. Even in the fields of corporate consultancy and project management, we see interdisciplinary engineering moving to the fore. These trends generate excellent opportunities for you in the regional and global labour markets alike.
