Student representation

Students in all faculties elect representatives to participate in the university’s collegial bodies, to whom every student can turn to express any concerns. The Student Representative Body comprises:

  • The student representatives in Senate,
  • Members of the Student Council, and
  • Additional student representatives, equivalent to the number of members of the Student Council.

A six-person Speakers’ Council is elected from their midst, of whom two are elected by the Student Representative Body and two by the Student Council. In addition, both student representatives in Senate belong to the Speakers’ Council.

Student representatives have the following duties:

  • Representing students’ academic, economic and social concerns,
  • Addressing cross-faculty issues arising from the student representatives’ work in the collegial bodies,
  • Promoting students’ spiritual, musical and sporting interests,
  • Co-determining how student subsidies are used, and
  • Nurturing relations with German and international students.
