There are binding statutory regulations specifying which secondary education certificates qualify you to study for a degree at a Bavarian university of applied sciences. Frequently, these (leaving) certificates are only valid for the federal state in which they were issued. You can easily check a certificate’s validity by its stamp. If you are unsure, you can always ask your school (e.g. main office).
For the degree programmes with capped numbers, offers of places will be posted on hochschulstart.dein early August. For unrestricted degree programmes, you will simply be offered a place online as soon as your application documents have been processed (as long as all the required evidence has been submitted).
When places are offered for restricted-entry degree programmes via hochschulstart.de those available at our university are offered throughout Germany. When a place is accepted, the next person on the list generally follows, other than in a conventional “clearing” process.
Unfortunately, we really can’t say, as we have no influence over the acceptance of offers via hochschulstart.de. For the free-access degree programmes (as long as we have all the documentation required), you will receive an offer irrespective of your average grade.
Semesters in waiting are the half-years spent between completing school and commencing a degree programme in Germany. However, semesters in waiting do not (as frequently misassumed) boost your average grade on your certificate, but represent an additional selection criterion (10 % of the available places).
Your registration email contains all the info you need. Alternatively, you can request a new password on the homepage of the applications portal (top-right – “Forgotten password?”). Unfortunately, we cannot remind you of your old password.
You can see this according to the change in status. If crucial documents are missing, impeding your application, the status will change from “received” to “on hold”. Once we receive all the necessary documents, the status will change to “valid”. If everything is in place from the start, the status will change straight from “received” to “valid”.
Please bear in mind that it isn’t possible for us to manually check for you due to the high volume of applications, so we kindly ask that you refrain from such enquiries.
Suggestion: If you send your documents to us with recorded delivery, you will get proof that the university has received them.
