Campus Card – your constant companion around campus

Your Campus Card has many uses, which make your everyday life as a student much easier. You can use it as ID, to pay for things, as a travel pass and a key – all in one.

Student ID

You will need to present ID on various occasions while you’re a student. Your Campus Card serves this purpose:

  • Throughout the university (towards Academic Registry, in the faculties, and for taking examinations)
  • Off-campus (wherever student discounts apply)
  • As your semester ticket on public transport

Library card

Students and staff at Kempten University of Applied Sciences use their Campus Card as their library card.

Use your library user number and password to log in to the library catalogue to reserve or renew books, order inter-library loans, or manage your library account.
If you are new to Kempten University of Applied Sciences, you will need to pop into the library to activate your library account.

If you are not logged into campus network and wish to access the electronic resources (such as eBooks and eJournals) in our library catalogue or our scientific databases you will need to enter your university ID (not your library user number).

Payments and photocopying

Your Campus Card also contains a virtual wallet for storing credit. Your wallet can be used to pay for:

  • Food and drinks in the canteen
  • Drinks from vending machines
  • Photocopying on the machines around campus
  • Fees in the Payments Office (e.g. for sports, certifications, fees, etc.)

Loading your Campus Card:

You can add up to 150 euros of credit to your Campus Card at any of the top-up machines. Top-up machines for cash payments are located in the canteen, at the cafeteria in Building S, and in the foyer of Building V. EC card payments can be made onto your Campus Card (up to 50 euros) on the machine in the the canteen.

You can withdraw the credit on your card at any time. The top-up machines in the foyer of Building V and in Building S can be used to make withdrawals. Please note that withdrawals are paid out in coins.

Accessing underground parking deck and carparks

Since completion of the 5th construction phase, students have access to almost 140 parking spaces on level UG2 of the underground carpark below Building S. You will need to be enrolled for the current semester to access the carpark. The Campus Card also gets you into the South and North carparks.

Carparks are accessible from Monday to Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 8 p.m . Please note that outside these opening hours, at weekends and on bank holidays, the barriers are closed, which prevents cars from exiting the carpark.

Travel pass for public transport (semester ticket)

“mona … takes me further.” The Campus Card is also a ticket for public transport busesoperated by “mona” in Allgäu. It even covers the shared taxi service linked to public transport in Kempten and the northern locality (known as “Anruf-Sammel-Taxi” – or “AST”for short). What’s more, semester ticket-holders qualify for an Allgäu-Walser-Fan-Card,which gives discounts for various leisure facilities in the Allgäu region. Please contact the mona customer service centre about this.

Important: Some students don’t participate in the semester ticket scheme and thus cannot use buses for free, in which case the Campus Card is marked to show this (“ohne ÖPNV”). This applies to anyone sampling taster studies, guest students and participants taking professional development courses with Kempten Business School.

Please note: Any student found to be travelling on a bus with an invalid ID card can be charged a penalty of 60 euros in accordance with the general terms and conditions that apply to public transportation and/or prosecuted for embezzling a service.
