Are you looking for a flexibly scheduled and practically focused MBA programme to boost your career? The MBA International Business Management & Leadership at Kempten focuses heavily on practical application and enables you to sustainably develop your personal leadership skills.
The MBA at our Professional School is certainly stands out from the crowd. But what makes it so different from the others on offer? Find out here.
A manager’s success stems only partly from applying functional specialist knowledge and managerial expertise. To achieve the aim of a successful and sustained executive career, a manager has to refine their social skills and personality.
This programme offers unique opportunities to do just that. We work on developing personal and social skills in core courses such as Cross-Cultural Behaviour and International Human Resources Management, augmenting this basis with elective seminars. The course in Principles of Leadership provides a profound insight into managerial behaviour and the motivational factors behind supreme performance. The two seminars Leading Self and Leading Others call for participants to explore their personal strengths and weaknesses. During these seminars, students get the chance to analyse and develop their emotional intelligence and means of strengthening their personality and leadership skills.
An empirical study has shown that our MBA participants significantly increase their emotional intelligence and enjoy extremely successful careers.
Develop Your Self! – with the Kempten model of leadership tasks
The aim of our MBA programmes is to teach cutting-edge managerial expertise to bolster executive careers. The Professional School of Business & Technology at Kempten University of Applied Sciences has dedicated itself to this objective since 2002. Our regular statistical surveys show that up to 70 percent of our participants progressed in their careers within two to three years of starting to study, meaning that many of them were already promoted before they completed their course with us.
Programme developing leadership traits
We are the only institution in Germany to run such a Programme developing leadership traits, which makes us the “leading” business school in Bavaria, as reflected in the largest annual intake of students (currently more than 40 MBA students from Germany and abroad).
Leadership Task Model
To meet the need for a systematic and scientifically based training programme, our lecturers developed an appropriate framework. The Leadership Task Model(Desjardins & Baker, 2013) describes the main leadership behaviour requirements of managers. It reveals the different levels of leadership – meta-leadership (me-level), macro-leadership (us-level) and micro-leadership (you-level). Managing executive tasks ensures maximum achievement of organisational aims, in other words maximum leadership productivity. This can only be attained on the basis of ethical standards and socially responsible action. At the same time, good leadership is also seen to encompass economic and social objectives.
The Leadership Task Model (Desjardins & Baker, 2013)
MBA “Leadership” seminars
In the course of your MBA programme, you will be guided through the three interdependent levels of the Leadership Task Model. This involves you first developing your personal skills at the me-level before you can successfully tackle the tasks on the we and you-level.
The me and you-level are addressed both in the three seminars in the MBA “Leadership” module and in the seminar on “Business Ethics”.
Another means of developing your personality lies in coaching, as offered to you by the participants on our Business Coaching programme.
The us-level is addressed in various seminars on the MBA programme: “International Strategy”, “Cross-Cultural Behaviour” and “Change Management”.
To ensure sustained development of your leadership traits and skills we have put together a structured development process with proven success according to empirical studies – starting with a self-appraisal of your personality and skills performed with the aid of tried-and-tested psychological testing. Based on the results of these tests, you will then compile development plansrelated to your personal areas of potential in terms of emotional intelligence (me-level) and leadership tasks (you-level). You will then implement these plans at your workplace and in your private sphere. We offer ongoing practical support throughout the course of your studies with implementing your development plans, with the aid of status reports and supervision during our leadership seminars.
