Application period

As a rule, applications can be submitted for summer semesters from 15 November to 15 January and for winter semesters from 15 April to 31 July.

The exceptions to this are the four master’s degree programmes Automation and Robotics, Global Business Development , Innovation, Entrepreneurialism and Leadership and Technical Innovation and Product Management, for which an earlier deadline of 15 July applies.

How to apply in 3 steps

1. Register online

Register online on our website. Then you can authorise your account by clicking the link sent to you by email. After that, you will be allocated an applicant ID. From then on, you will be able to apply for any of our master’s degree programmes (subject to the relevant deadlines). To do so, please enter all the required details into the online form, which is then transmitted via an encoded connection to Kempten University of Applied Sciences. After completing your application, you can still amend any details or register for further degree programmes. During the online application process, you will be invited to download various documents, depending on the information you provide.

 

2. Fill in the application on paper

To complete your application, print your “application for admission” and the forms provided by the university.

 

3. Complete your application dossier

Indicate which master’s degree programme(s) you are applying for, citing your applicant ID, and attach the following documents (where required – one set per programme):

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Colour copy of an official form of ID (doesn’t need to be certified)
  • Certificate of higher education degree (officially certified copy)
  • If you haven’t completed your degree yet, a certified copy of confirmation from your university that you have already earned at least either 180 ECTS Credit Points on a 7-semester bachelor’s degree programme (also applies to applicants from the DHBW) or 150 ECTS Credit Points on a 6-semester bachelor’s degree programme. Applicants for the degree programmes in Energy Technology, Advanced Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Production Engineering and Materials Science, Product Development in Mechanical and Plant Engineering, and Industrial Engineering – Mechanical Engineering only need to provide evidence of at least either 170 ECTS Credit Points on a 7-semester bachelor’s degree programme (also applies to applicants from DHBW) or 140 ECTS Credit Points on a 6-semester bachelor’s degree programme. If you are already a student at our university, you don’t need to submit this evidence. Exception for the master’s degree programme in Social and Health Services Management: Your degree certificate or confirmation of your award must be submitted by 15 January (if applying for the following summer semester) or 31 July (if applying for the following winter semester). 
  • If applicable, exmatriculation certificate (if changing universities, only required for registration)
  • A stamped (for up to 100g), self-addressed A4 envelope, if you require us to return your document after completing the admission process.
  • If applicable, evidence of required proficiency in German (PDF) (e.g. telc B2, DSH-2, TestDaF Level 3 or better); Exception for the degree programme in Logistics: C1, TestDaF Level 4 or better); to be submitted no later than 30 September if applying for the winter semester / 14 March if applying for the summer semester.

 

Did you gain your university degree abroad?

Degrees awarded by foreign universities require special validation. Please send your foreign certificate – either the original or an officially certified copy – by post to:

Please enclose a certified copy of the certificate or a transcript of records (only if you haven’t yet completed your university degree) from your university. You don’t need to apply to uni-assist. Once your document has been processed, you will receive your “preliminary review documentation” (“Vorprüfungsdokumentation – VPD”). Please send this to Academic Registry at Kempten University of Applied Sciences by 31 July for applications for degree programmes starting in a winter semester. The deadline is 15 January for applications for a degree programme starting in a summer semester.

 

Applicants from China, Vietnam or Mongolia, please note:

In addition to your university certificates, please also submit the original “APS” validation. uni-assist charges afeefor its validation service.

 

Applicants for the master’s degree programme in Electrical Engineering should not send their documents to uni-assist. Instead, the appropriate Examination / Programme Board will check skills acquired abroad during the admissions procedure.
