Frequently Asked Questions regarding novel coronavirus

The Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Art has provided a dedicated web ressource with FAQ on the subject of novel coronavirus (only available in German).

 

Switch to reduced operations

In order to deal with the evolving situation regarding “COVID-19”, Kempten University of Applied Sciences is switching to reduced operations until further notice. We have ensured that departments and contacts responsible for issuing advice can be reached by telephone or email, but they are currently prevented from attending personal meetings.

 

Definition of hazardous regions

The regions considered to present a hazard are exclusively those defined, and subject to update, by the Robert Koch Institute. All of the university’s employees, teaching staff and students are requested to check this list of hazardous regions each day.

 

Exclusion from university premises

The following people are prohibited from visiting the university’s premises:

  • Anyone infected with the coronavirus or anyone tested for coronavirus and the result is not yet known.
  • Anyone who has had direct contact with someone infected with the coronavirus within the past 14 days, until medical evaluation by local health authorities. A directive issued by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and the Arts prevents employees from being excused of their duties, which means anyone affected is required to work from home (“home office”).
  • Anyone who has had direct contact during the past 14 days with someone tested for coronavirus and the result is not yet known. A directive issued by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and the Arts prevents employees from being excused of their duties, which means anyone affected is required to work from home (“home office”).
  • Anyone who has visited a hazardous region is prohibited from visiting the university's premises for 14 days. A directive issued by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and the Arts prevents employees from being excused of their duties, which means anyone affected is required to work from home (“home office”).
  • Members of any facility that has been closed by decision of the Health Authority due to a case of coronavirus.
  • Members of any company that has made its own measured decision to close due to a case of coronavirus.
  • All external parties, unless an appointment has been arranged in advance and then limited to the necessary extent.

All employees, teaching staff and students are obliged to immediately inform the university if they meet any of the above criteria. Teaching staff and students should notify their faculty office by e-mail or letter; employees should notify the Chancellor.

Please alert anyone who might be affected by these instructions and urge them to comply, particularly from outside the university!

 

Business trips and off-site training

Business trips to and off-site training in hazardous regions are prohibited.

 

Hygiene instructions

  • Regularly wash your hands thoroughly (for at least 30 seconds) and clean them using the disinfectant dispensers provided. In addition to those already in place, 17 additional disinfectant dispensers have now been installed, mainly at the entrances to the university.
  • If you need to sneeze, do so inside your elbow
  • Keep your distance from anyone exhibiting flu-like symptoms

 

Appearance of symptoms

Should you suspect that you might have been infected with the coronavirus, please contact your regular doctor by phone.

 

What happens next?

 Should the Health Authority order the university’s closure, everyone will be notified by email and a bulletin will be posted on our homepage outlining the emergency provisions, all important information and regulations.

To ensure you are properly prepared in case the university is closed at short notice, please always maintain general operational safeguards in your area of responsibility, which you are continuously obliged to do in any case.
