    Aims and objectives: 

    The course is intended to give the students an overview about the internal logistic processes of a production. The students will develop an understanding of the divergent and conflicting objectives of this processes. They will learn how these internal processes can be planned and optimised.
    In this context the students will learn about simulation as one major tool for planning and optimising internal logistic processes. 

    General learning objectives:

    Students who pass the Logistics Track will understand the value chain concept from a strategic perspective. This includes the inbound and sourcing process, the internal logistics and operation processes as well as the outbound process. A very important focus is that these logistics experts know how to implement the right tools to change a logistics system into a strategic element and effective area to gain a competitive advantage for their company.

    Detailed learning outcomes:

    • Gain a general understanding of production in internal logistic processes
    • Understand the definition and the range which these processes cover
    • Learn about the modeling and simulation of logistic processes
    • Gain knowledge about the core processes as transportation, storage, picking and sorting
