Our vision inspires us to network technologies and companies of varying sizes and in different sectors to optimise products’ shelf lives,
so we relish opportunities to collaborate with industrial companies.
Working with us links you to an outstanding pool of experts for conducting all kinds of projects relating to the shelf life of foodstuffs and gives you access to a wide range of cutting-edge equipment and technologies.

Our services include cross-sector research and development aimed at supplying industry with – or jointly creating – end-to-end solutions to optimise the shelf lives of foodstuffs. Our primary target group encompasses food and beverage manufacturers, filling and packaging system engineers and packaging manufacturers, but of course we would also welcome enquires from other segments and sectors with an interest in this field.

Research and development (R&D)

Process and technology development

For example:

  • Developing an automatic filling system for refrigerated, viscose foodstuffs
  • Process development of a technically innovative shear-force based  high-speed meat tumbler
  • Hygienically designed and developed systems and equipment
  • Temperature-controlled packaging systems for online-retail foodstuffs

New technologies and digitalisation

For example

  • Developing and optimising designs using virtual reality
  • 3D scanning to create CAD models
  • Additive manufacturing
  • Modelling and simulations

Service for businesses

Collaboration on R&D projects (public and privately commissioned)

  • Public – e.g. harnessing alternative investment funds, incl. “ZIM” (Central Innovation Programme for SMEs) projects
  • Private – bi/multilateral projects with companies

Project assistance and support

For example:

  • Filling experiments followed by evaluation of shelf lives (e.g. in different kinds of packaging, or under different filling conditions)
  • Exposure experiments on products
  • Simulating export conditions followed by product evaluations
  • Evaluating the mechanical and functional properties of packaging (e.g. tensile tests, ascertaining permeation by water vapour or oxygen)
  • Sensory evaluation of products
  • Product analyses
  • Consultancy and transfer of expert knowledge

Training (incl. hands-on)

For example:

  • Introduction to polymer additive manufacturing
  • Testing methods using devices (e.g. universal test machine, UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer, rheometer)
  • Hygienic designs and CE labelling with real-life examples
