Professional and Vocational Education

Kempten University of Applied Sciences has an agreement with the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) that gives its students the opportunity to take an additional fee-based professional development course , earning an “AdA Certificate”, while studying for their degree. This qualification entitles them to act as a trainer in companies practising skilled trades. It is based on the ordinance for professional and vocational educational aptitude for vocational training in skilled trades (Ordinance on Trainer Aptitude [“AEVO” – AusbEignV], dated 21 January 2009). You will be taught the relevant methodological, organisational, educational, psychological and legal skills and knowledge during this course to qualify you for this role.

The AdA course focuses on the four areas of activity outlined in the AEVO:

  • Examining training requirements and planning training
  • Preparing training and playing a part in appointing trainees
  • Conducting training
  • Completing training

Conditions for taking part

You must be a registered student at Kempten University of Applied Sciences to enrol for this course. Signing up via MeinCampus commits you to joining the course. By doing so, you agree to pay the course fee by bank transfer if you are allocated a place. Should you relinquish your place or not attend the course after the second enrolment round has been completed, we reserve the right to insist that you pay the full fee for the course. You can withdraw from the course via MeinCampus at any point during the enrolment rounds.

Courses can only be held if enough participants sign up. The university reserves the right to cancel a group if this is not the case. Should it already prove infeasible after the first enrolment round to run a group, or should you not be allocated a place if the course is over-subscribed, you can sign up for other courses that still have free capacity during the second enrolment round.

Should (substantiated) rescheduling of classes on your degree programme cause clashes with the course on Professional and Vocational Education , please contact us without delay to discuss the matter.

Examination

The timing of the examination (at the end of the semester) will be announced in good time during the course. A pass is awarded once all the work required has been completed. (You can find more information in the relevant Moodle course.)

Following the examination, students will be informed of the result via email, after which they can collect their certificate.

Certificate and Recognition

Kempten University of Applied Sciences issues confirmation that students have passed the AdA examination. Students must collect this in person (or authorise someone else to act on their behalf) from the Centre for General Elective Studies and Languages.

If you wish, you can present this confirmation to the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and they will issue their own certificate (costing you € 50) (§ 6, para. 3 EVOgW + 7AEVOgW), which testifies to the parity of the university’s examination with the IHK’s own and thus officially confirms the holder’s qualification to act as a professional and vocational trainer. You will be given further information about this process when you collect the confirmation issued by the university. A pass on the AdA course cannot be included in the university’s degree certificate (e.g. as an elective subject).
