This page provides students at Kempten University of Applied Sciences with the answers to many questions that might occur to them specifically regarding General Elective modules . If you can’t find the answer you are looking for here, please feel free to get in touch with us any time.
These FAQs are currently divided into three main topics:
Please note:
All the information contained in these FAQs is subject to ongoing revision. We therefore strongly recommend that you always also consult the latest versions of the State Examination Regulations (“RaPO”), the General Examination Regulations (“APO”) and the Programme and Examination Regulations (“SPO”), besides those for your specific degree programme.
Enrolment always takes place at the start of each semester . You will find the schedule here on our homepage when the time comes. The process for the first and second enrolment rounds is conducted entirely in MeinCampus. You cannot sign up in writing.
The first enrolment round takes place via module enrolments in MeinCampus. You enrol in classes by indicating priorities. You can find detailed information and instructions in MeinCampusDoku.
This might be because:
Please check whether any of points 1 to 4 might be the cause. If either the first or second reason is the case, you can only enter the allocation process during the second enrolment round . In the third case , please contact Academic Registry.
If you think technical issues are causing the problem (fourth case) , please contact the Centre for General Elective Studies and Languages immediately (during the enrolment period).
The second enrolment round is conducted via the Course Catalogue in MeinCampus , without indicating priorities. There are no enrolment restrictions during the second round. Further information can also be found here.
It makes no difference how early you sign up, the stage you are at in your course or what you have enrolled for during previous semesters. If the demand for any class exceeds maximum capacity, places are automatically allocated to students by means of a random draw .
You can only switch groups if you can find someone to swap with who has also been officially allocated a place. You then need to submit an application to the Centre for General Elective Studies and Languages. Requests for fully booked classes that don’t name a person to swap with cannot be granted.
Admission – and the associated eligibility to participate in a class – is always only valid for the current semester, for which you applied. If you relinquish the place you have been allocated or fail to attend, there is nothing to stop you from re-applying for a place during the enrolment period for the following semester and taking part in the random draw.
You can only withdraw single-handedly via MeinCampus during the enrolment rounds . To withdraw after the enrolment rounds have been completed, you simply need to email the Centre for General Elective Studies and Languages, citing your student registration number and the module in question.
Please note that to ensure everyone is treated equally, any places that become free in fully booked modules following the end of the enrolment period are not reallocated . Places in classes that are not fully booked can be passed on.
Please note:
This means you should consider very carefully prior to enrolling which modules you genuinely want to attend. Simply trying your luck and then subsequently withdrawingis in neither your own nor your fellow students’ interest. It potentially robs other students of the chance to take a module that they are really keen to attend.
General information about the start of the semester, the examination period and teaching breaks is posted on the homepage under Dates .
You can find this information in MeinCampus by consulting the details for your chosen class.
More information is available in MeinCampus MeinCampus – My Studies – Planner of studies where you will find a module plan in the course description and in the Kempten UAS 2day app. Set filters to highlight e.g. General Elective modules in “General Elective Studies”.
Examinations are announced shortly after the semester has started – within the first three weeks of the semester for General Elective modules. This information includes official details of the aids permitted in each examination, the examiner, etc.
The examination schedule – including the official timetable for the examinations – is announced approx. four weeks in advance.
Instructions can be found here (under Downloads).
Admission to a class does not mean you have been registered for the examination . For all classes that you have been allocated a place and wish to be assessed in, you must also register for the examination during the examination registration period in MeinCampus.
The registration period can be found under Dates on the university’s homepage.
You need to complete the registration process in “MeinCampus”. Academic Registry will also email you a few days before the registration period begins.
In addition, you should check at the indicated time that the details of your registrations for examinations on the draft printout are correct and resolve any potential errors with Academic Registry.
A draft printout is posted in My Campus – SB Portal a few days after you have registered for examinations. Academic Registry will announce the exact date. Print a hard copy or save it.Any discrepancies between the draft printout and the registration details you actually submitted must be resolved immediately with Academic Registry.
Please note:
The draft printout does not list examinations that have already been taken or processed. It is therefore vital that you save the draft printout for checking at the time stated. Otherwise, not all the examinations for which you have actually registered will necessarily appear on the draft printout if it is produced later on, potentially causing unnecessary confusion.
You don’t actually have to take the examinations for General Elective modules for which you have registered. If you remain absent from the examination, this counts as withdrawing from it. You can find detailed information about the examination regulations for General Elective moduleshere (under Downloads). Please note that these are specific to General Elective modules, so different rules might apply to other examinations on your course.
The transcript of records showing your examination results for the current semester will be released several days (approx. 1 to 2 weeks) after the examination period has ended. All examination results for the semester are published on the specified date in MeinCampus. The university will not divulge any examination results prior to this, so please refrain from seeking any such information from your lecturers.
You can apply to inspect your marked written examination scripts once the examination results have been ascertained. If you wish to inspect any examination papers, you must apply to do so by the start of the following semester . Examination papers can then be inspected during the first four weeks of the following semester. Please email any inspection requests to aw(at)hs-kempten.de.
More information can be found here.
Failed examinations must be retaken during regular examination periods . The first resit must be attempted within 6 months, and any second resit must be attempted within 12 months of the first resit. The SPO for your degree programme stipulates whether, and under which circumstances, a further (third) resit can be attempted.
Please note:
You also need to observe the examination regulations that apply specifically to General Elective modules, which can be found here (under Downloads).
As long as you registered for the examination in question during the period for registering for examinations , the examination will be graded. To avoid this dilemma, we recommend that you take the draft printout of the examinations for which you have registered from MeinCampus with you to every examination.
There is no dedicated Examinations Board for General Elective modules . The Examinations Board for your degree programme is responsible for taking decisions on petitions concerning examinations for General Elective modules, such as recognising examination performances, granting extra time for examinations to due to impairment, etc.
