You can find a detailed list of all classes in the Module Handbook for General Elective Studies (under Downloads). Not all classes in this list are offered every semester.
The classes that will be running (incl. schedules) are formally confirmed at the start of each winter/summer semester (approx. two weeks in advance). You can check this in MeinCampus under My Studies – Planner of studies with Module plan . The class sizes cited in MeinCampus are also definitive.
You will be sent the Bavarian Virtual University (vhb) is associated with Bavaria’s universities. It offers a huge number of online courses,
some of which are recognised as General Elective modules. You can check which courses this applies to in the General Elective Modules Handbook (for download).
The process for recognising the vhb courses cited in the General Elective Modules Handbook:
(Further details can also be found in the Module Handbook.)
1. Sign up via MeinCampus – My Studies – Planner of studies with Module plan during the General Elective enrolment period at the start of the semester.
2. Sign up for the class at the start of the semester at www.vhb.org .
3. Register for the examination during the examinations registration period.
4. Register for the examination with the vhb.
If you follow this procedure, your exam result will automatically be added to your General Elective credits tally at the end of the semester.

The key terms used during the enrolment rounds are explained briefly below.
General Elective Compulsory Credit Points
You require these ECTS Credit Points to complete your course of study. The Credit Points and examination results count towards your final grade.
Voluntary studies
These Credit Points and examination results are recorded as an examination that you have registered for and a pass is entered into the transcript of records, but they do not count towards your final grade.
First enrolment round
Eligible students can sign up at this point for General Elective modules of their choice.
Second enrolment round
All students are free to enrol for any modules with spare capacity.
Allocation
The system then allocates places on the various General Elective modules. No (further) enrolments are possible at this stage.
Publication of results
You can check the following information under My Studies / Enrolments or in the overview of classes for General Elective modules:
Status messages for allocations
Before enrolling, students should carefully consider which classes they really want to attend. Only you can judge the workload you can cope with. It would be unfair to reserve places in General Elective modules with limited class sizes if you aren’t fully committed to following through. It is in no one’s interest – neither your own, nor your fellow students’ – to rashly sign up for the maximum number of classes only to withdraw after you have been allocated a place. All this does is to rob students who are genuinely interested in these classes of the chance to take part. So, please think carefully before choosing!
If you do find yourself wishing to withdraw from a General Elective module, you can only do so single-handedly during the relevant enrolment period – and only from classes that are not yet fully booked. Thereafter, you will need to submit written notification of withdrawal (e.g. by sending an emailing stating your name, student registration number and the class in question).
If at all possible, withdrawals should be actioned before the end of the enrolment period so that any free spaces can then potentially (subject to the regulations) be offered to someone else.
The requirements that students must meet to enrol for General Elective modules are stipulated in the Programme and Examination Regulations for your degree programme. The Faculties set their own regulations regarding the inclusion of General Elective modules in the structure of each degree programme.
Students need to distinguish between the General Elective compulsory modules required to complete their course and voluntary studies (non-requisite General Elective modules).
For quick reference, you can download the Credit Points Table , which summarises the requirements for all the different degree programmes.
Enrolments for General Elective modules are always conducted at the start of each semester and take place in two stages – the first and second enrolment rounds.
Enrolments for the General Elective modules offered are managed via MeinCampus – My Studies > Planner of studies with Module plan at Kempten UAS. You can only enrol online . You cannot enrol in writing.
Instructions are posted in MeinCampusDoku. Allocation of places is not influenced by when you enrol. The places available are allocated randomly amongst everyone who has applied during the enrolment period, according to faculty, or in line with the stage that students have reached based on previous achievement in their studies.
If any problems ariseduring the enrolment rounds, students should immediately alert the contact person for General Elective modules . Any problems reported after the relevant enrolment period has ended cannot be taken into account retrospectively. Any complaints that are submitted after the enrolment period in question has ended unfortunately cannot be considered.
There are two separate stages to the process – the first and second enrolment rounds. Prior to the first enrolment round for General Elective modules, students themselves are responsible for ensuring they have progressed sufficiently in their studies to be eligible for enrolment (See: SPO / Credit Points Table). If this is not the case, you cannot postpone registering for the examination to count later towards your required total of General Elective compulsory modules (but can only count the course as voluntary study). It cannot be recognized retrospectively.
Students can check in their SPO or the Credit Points Table (under Downloads) whether they are eligible to take part in the first enrolment round . If not, they can join in the second enrolment round.
The following distinctions are made during the first enrolment round::
For students requiring compulsory Credit Points:
Voluntary additional studies cannot be added to your General Elective Compulsory Credit Points account at a later date.
For students not requiring compulsory Credit Points:
All eligible students can apply for classes during the first enrolment round by indicating priorities / alternative modules in MeinCampus under My Studies > Planner of studies with Module plan . You can find detailed instructions under Downloads and in MeinCampus – instructions .
Eligibility is unrestricted during the second enrolment round. Anyone interested can apply at that point for classes with places remaining, e.g. students who
The second enrolment round is also completed via MeinCampus. Detailed instructions for this process are posted under Downloads.
You can check whether you have signed up successfully for classes during both enrolment rounds in MeinCampus under My Studies – Enrolments. Look out for the status messages signed up, accepted or rejected (terms explained elsewhere on this page). Places are automatically allocated (during both rounds) by means of a random draw.
Students are not notified by email if they have been allocated a place. It is up to you to check the status yourself under My Studies – Enrolments in MeinCampus . Places are generally confirmed approx. 1.5 days after the first enrolment round and approx. half a day after the second.
Only admissions confirmed via MeinCampus are valid, and then solely with effect to the current semester. Teachers cannot directly admit students to their classes. Please contact the Centre for General Elective Studies and Languages about any issues regarding the enrolment procedure.
The enrolment period for General Elective modules during Winter Semester 2023/24 is as follows:
First enrolment round:
Second enrolment round:
How will I find out if I have secured a place?
You will not receive notification. It is up to you to check the outcome yourself in MeinCampus under My Studies – Enrolments after the allocation procedure has been completed (approx. 1.5 days after the first enrolment round and approx. half a day after the second).
You can make modifications to your enrolments via MeinCampus at any point during the first round.
You can also use the “enrol/withdraw” button in MeinCampus to withdraw of your own accord during the second enrolment round. .
To withdraw under any other circumstances, please contact us by email (see contact details).
While admission to a class also entitles participants to take the associated examination, It does notautomatically register students for this. Whatever the foreseen assessment format, this process must be conducted separately during the allocated period .
Registering for examinations
You have to register for examinations in “MeinCampus” under My Studies – Planner of studies with Module plan . Follow the instructions provided. If you cannot find the examination you wish to register for in this section, please enter the requested details in the form stored as a Word document for flagging up non-listed subjects in MeinCampus . This then needs sending to Academic Registry.
If you are taking a general elective module as a voluntary extra and would like evidence of this, you also need to register to take the examination. If you pass the exam, this will be displayed in your transcript of records, although it will not count towards your final grade.
examination schedule
The examination schedule for General Elective modules can be downloaded from this page, when the time comes, under Downloads .
Examination regulations for General Elective modules
Detailed information on this topic can be found under Downloads. The regulations in question apply specifically to General Elective modules.
Examinations Board
The Examinations Board for your degree programme is responsible for your General Elective modules. This is therefore the correct point of call for any issues you might wish to raise with the Examinations Board. The assistance provided to the Examinations Board by the General Elective Studies officer is not affected.
Students are given the opportunity to inspect how their assessed work was marked during the first three weeks of the semester after the grades for the previous semester have been released. Applications to inspect assessments must be submitted in writing to the Centre for General Elective Studies and Languages by the start of the semester following the release of grades. A time and place for the inspection will be specified.
If this appointment clashes with an internship or semester abroad, students can apply for an extension to the deadline and inspect their assessment during the first four weeks of the subsequent semester instead. Evidence of the internship or residence abroad must be attached to the application. Applications to extend the deadline for inspecting assessments must be submitted in writing to the Centre for General Elective Studies and Languages within two weeks of the start of the semester following the release of grades.
