Details about this course

This master’s programme is designed to be completed (gaining 90 ECTS Credit Points) in three full-time semesters, but it can also be studied part-time over six semesters.

The first two semesters cover the theoretical foundation. The compulsory modules include the core seminar, in which you deliver a presentation on a discerning topic, and a project, in which you work on a set task in the field of computer science. The compulsory elective modules are structured according to areas of application.

You will spend the third semester focusing on your master’s thesis, completed predominantly in the form of a project that you conduct in collaboration with a partner in industry, business or administration.
Students can switch in either direction between full-time and part-time study. The same admission criteria apply to both options.

The university awards students who successfully complete the programme the academic title Master of Science (M.Sc.).

Please note: If you have gained a degree with at least 240 credit points, you can apply to have up to 30 credit points recognised as compulsory elective modules for the mater’s programme. However, the compulsory modules must be completed during the master’s programme.

Computer science plays an important role in almost all spheres of life nowadays. The IT component integrated into products and services is constantly increasing, along with systems’ complexity and the volumes of data to be processed. The effect is to increasingly broaden the range of work for computer and information scientists. The sustained surge in developing state-of-the-art communication systems fuels the demand for suitably trained specialists in numerous sectors.

Fields of activity:

  • Medical technology
  • Various branches of industry
  • Intelligence services
  • Games development
  • eCommerce
  • Research
  • Doctoral studies

To be eligible for this programme, you must have completed a (bachelor’s) degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or hold a qualification of equal value. Applicants who gained between 180 and 210 ECTS Credit Points in their bachelor’s degree can make up the difference to attain the skills level of 300 ECTS Credit points required for the master’s degree from the bachelor’s programmes offered by the university of applied sciences. An average grade of at least 2.5 must have been attained for the degree.
