Accessibility Statement

  1. Kempten University of Applied Sciences
  2. Accessibility

Kempten University of Applied Sciences is committed to ensuring that its website is accessible in accordance with the Bavarian Digitalisation Ordinance (“Verordnung über die Digitalisierung im Freistaat Bayern” – BayDiV).
This accessibility statement applies to the main website https://www.hs-kempten.de.

Status of compliance with requirements

Due to the following incompatibilities, this website is partially compliant with the requirements of WCAG 2.1 (Conformity Level AA) and BITV 2.0.

Disproportionate burden

The content and functions listed below are not currently fully accessible. For these areas, a temporary exemption is claimed under § 9 para. 4 of the Bavarian Disability Ordinance (BayDiV) on the grounds of disproportionate burden.

  • Forms
Some forms contain CAPTCHA checks that are currently not fully accessible and therefore present a barrier to access for some user groups (WCAG 3.3.7).
  • Chatbot
The chatbot currently in use cannot be fully operated using a keyboard, which therefore limits its accessibility for some user groups. It is not certainly usable with screen readers in all cases (WCAG 2.1.1, 4.1.2), either.
  • Documents
Some documents provided on the website (e.g. PDF documents) are not currently fully accessible. This relates in particular to a lack of structuring, insufficient tagging information or limited screen reader compatibility (WCAG 1.1.1, 1.3.1).
  • Multimedia content
Not all embedded videos currently have subtitles or audio descriptions (WCAG 1.2.1, 1.2.3).
  • Integration of YouTube videos
For data protection reasons, embedded YouTube videos are only loaded after users have actively consented. The button used to activate the service can generally be operated using the keyboard. However, screen readers might only be able to access the content to a limited extent (WCAG 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 1.3.1, 4.1.2).
  • Alternative text for images
In some cases, images might not have sufficient or meaningful alternative text (WCAG 1.1.1).
  • Content structure (heading hierarchy)
In certain sections of the website, the semantic heading hierarchy might not consistently be implemented correctly (WCAG 1.3.1).
  • Link texts
In some cases, the text used in links is not worded unambiguously or is only understandable in context (WCAG 2.4.4).

Reason:
As a university, we operate a very extensive and diverse website involving different target groups, content and technical components, which is maintained on a decentralised basis by many different editors. Despite continuous efforts, individual barriers can therefore not be entirely avoided.

This content does not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions:

The social media content embedded or linked on this website (e.g. from external platforms such as Instagram or LinkedIn) does not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions on accessibility, as it is third-party content over the design and accessibility of which we have no influence.

The statement was last reviewed on 21 April 2026.
