Co-creation and sustainable participation in the development of hybrid health IT

Period: 01.11.2021 – 31.10.2024

Crises and exceptional circumstances such as the COVID‑19 pandemic put societies and social systems under pressure to act. They require fast, dynamically adaptable and yet reliable socio-technical solutions, e.g. to maintain health-related care. At the same time, quality of life and participation must be ensured. In order to take sufficient account of the interests, needs and, not least, potential for innovation in developing, providing and refining such solutions, it’s essential to involve users. Co-creation and participation offer a methodical approach to successfully handling the complex constellation of agents, contexts and technology involved in the application areas of health and care.

The central aim of the CoCre-HIT project is therefore to accompany and support the technology development projects that are also funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in planning, setting up and evaluating co-creative development processes in and outside of exceptional circumstances in a qualified manner in order to unleash the potential of hybrid interaction systems for the highly specific and contextualised areas of application (health promotion, prevention, acute and long-term care, formal and informal care and rehabilitation).

A portfolio of support is continuously on hand to assist and coach the funded projects in participatory formats and co-creative methods at service level. It also organises and moderates the participatory learning and development processes between the projects in (further) developing the participation approaches concerned, and provides networking formats to facilitate mutual exchange and transfer of knowledge. At the scientific, analytical level, CoCre-HIT also pursues the key aim of analysing the co-creative approaches from a cross-project perspective. In communication with the projects, a theoretical, conceptual framework for co-creative processes and methods for developing technologies that promote health, quality of life and participation – also under exceptional conditions - is to be provided at the programme level and further differentiated during the course of the programme.
