Global value chains determine the tasks and challenges in many companies. Mastering such global value chains is one of the core competencies to assert oneself in a globalized economy. Students are taught these skills within the module "International Value Chain".
The term "Value Chain" is to be understood in the sense of Porter. The contents of the module therefore range from the product development process to the selection and development of suppliers in the purchasing process, the design of efficient production and internal logistics process to the process components on the market or customer side. Participants in this course will be able to recognize such process chains as a subject of design and optimization. They are aware of the special importance of interfaces and can influence parameters (product design) that are determined in an early stage of the process but influence the process results and the process costs over the whole process. Students are able to name the overall objective for international value chains and have the means to coordinate equal value partners in the sense of this overall objective.
