Non-contact optical measurement technology for shape and coordinate measurement of components is finding its way more and more into production and manufacturing environments. Our laboratory is oriented towards modern and efficient processes, some of which are widely used in industry, while others occupy very specific niches. As a special feature, the equipment and competence of the laboratory covers the entire process from the design of an optical system to image acquisition and evaluation of the information through image processing; from image to decision!
The laboratory is firmly anchored in the teaching; students are thus offered the opportunity to learn the practical handling of the most important two- and three-dimensional optical measuring methods, including image-processing evaluation. In particular, the focus will be on how the individual methods differ in terms of their performance capabilities - but also their limitations. For this purpose, several lecture-accompanying laboratory experiments as well as attractive project and final theses are offered. In addition, the aim of this laboratory is to carry out applied research and cooperative industrial projects.
