Green Economy and Green Finance

Our global economy is undergoing a profound transformation towards sustainability: And you can be part of shaping this change. This elective specialization provides an in-depth understanding of current sustainability challenges and opportunities in both the corporate and financial sectors.

You will explore the key drivers of sustainable transformation and analyze global ecological, social, and economic issues through an interdisciplinary lens. The module examines how political initiatives (such as the EU Green Deal and national policies), market dynamics, and stakeholder expectations influence corporate strategies and financial decision-making.

Students gain a solid foundation in sustainability concepts and their strategic implementation within companies. A special focus is placed on the financial industry’s pivotal role in enabling sustainable development and on how green finance shapes corporate positioning.

Practical application is central to this module: you will develop key performance indicator (KPI) systems necessary for documenting and controlling sustainability aspects, and learn how to integrate sustainability into holistic management frameworks. Through an interactive business simulation, you will experience how to plan and implement sustainable finance strategies in a resource-constrained bank, manage ESG opportunities and risks within a loan portfolio, and lead the organization toward both economic and environmental success.
