As a hive of inspiration and diversity, Kempten University of Applied Sciences offers its members an appropriate framework for leading their lives according to their own patterns.

Your point of contact on campus for dealing with the everyday demands of different stages in life is the Office for Equal Opportunities, Family Affairs and Diversity.

We provide support and advice relating to equal opportunities, family matters and diversity, and manage provisions for staff and students to help them balance family life with their working/study commitments and shape their career prospects.

  • “For greater equality in opportunities in science and the arts.

As Central Equal Opportunities Officers, we are committed to promoting equal opportunities for women in science and the arts. We provide one-to-one advice, shadow appointment procedures, participate in committees, and develop strategies towards equal opportunities. By offering information and running projects, we promote an open, fair and family-friendly academic culture that benefits both staff and students.”

    - Professor Dr Veronika Schraut (Central Commissioner for Equal Opportunities for Women in Science)
  • “Creating equality must be an integral part of university culture. Equal opportunities, diversity and combining studies, career and family represent daily challenges. The BGFD sees itself as a central point of contact for ideas, topics and projects in these areas, strengthening cross-departmental cooperation between all stakeholders throughout the university of applied sciences.”

    - Professor Dr Barbara Seeberg (Deputy Central Commissioner for Equal Opportunities for Women in Science and the Arts)
  • “As the Officer for Equal Opportunities and Families, it is particularly important to me to focus on understanding and perceiving the needs of university members in different stages of life. Striving to ensure family-friendly studying and working conditions should create effects both within the organisation and externally – as part of our social duty; as a hive of innovation, education and training for students; and as an appealing place to work and study.”

    - Melanie Lüders (Head of the Office for Equal Opportunities, Family Affairs and Diversity)
  • “Diversity and equal opportunities are important prerequisites for enjoying a successful time at Kempten University of Applied Sciences and gaining valuable and enriching experiences during this special stage in life.
As the Officer for Diversity, I am committed to ensuring that different people, different needs and, above all, many different qualities are treated with sensitivity.”

    - Katharina Litsche (Officer for Diversity)
  • “Taking on responsibility for caring for another person inevitably leads to double or multiple burdens trying to juggle care tasks and work or study. Our goal is to heighten the visibility and increase awareness of this issue and to provide space for sharing experiences, networking and counselling. As a member of the team at BGFD, I am available as a contact person for these issues, for example about counselling, information or networking opportunities.”

    - Larissa Albrecht (Contact for family carers)
