The documents that you really need depend on your degree programme and your personal situation. We’ll show you step by step what’s important.

1. Check criteria

Before you apply, please check the admission criteria for your degree programme.

To start studying for a bachelor’s degree, you will need evidence that you are eligible for admission to university, such as:

  • A high school diploma (“Abitur” in Germany)
  • Advanced technical college certificate
  • Subject-specific university entrance certificate
  • Recognised vocational qualification

Depending on the degree programme, applicants might also need: 

  • Specific evidence
  • Evidence of language proficiency
  • Prior professional experience

2. Gather your documents

You will need digital versions of certain documents for your application for admission to a bachelor’s degree programme. What you specifically need will depend on your degree programme and your personal situation.

You will usually require the following to apply:

  • Evidence of your eligibility for university, e.g. high school diploma (“Abitur”), advanced technical college certificate, or an equivalent level of qualification.
  • Official ID, e.g. passport

As soon as have prepared your documents, you can start your application. Applications are submitted online via our applications portal “MeinCampus”:
