We are
Formula Student – a racing series in which university teams from all over the world take part and compete against each other in various disciplines. The teams spend a year designing a racing car, which they must finance and build themselves with the help of their university and numerous sponsors.
We also take part in this series under the name of “Infinity Racing”, the racing team of Kempten University of Applied Sciences. The era of TOMSOI commenced when Infinity Racing was founded in 2007, With twelve combustion-engine vehicles and the team as it stands today being built up over a period of 14 years. In the 2020/21 season, the decision was made to henceforth compete with an electric vehicle, Which meant undertaking a complete overhaul. Not only did the powertrain need to be converted, but the chassis, suspension and bodywork were also adapted to suit the electric drive. In addition, many new fields and working groups were added, as well as expanding the existing ones and requiring greater effort.
However, the most important factor in the team’s ability to develop a functioning racing car is its members, who are exclusively students – No matter which degree programme they are enrolled in. For instance, tourism students help with chassis production, members of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering deal with the finances, and suspension systems are designed by economics students. We stand for team spirit and continuous development! Together, we achieve our imminent goals and grow both personally and professionally along the way. As a result, Alumni from our team have already been known to secure senior positions in well-known companies, enriching these organisations with the wealth of experience they gained during their studies.

Infinity Racing offers students in all disciplines the opportunity to plough their accumulated knowledge into developing, manufacturing and marketing a racing car, thereby gaining some inaugural practical experience. They also gain insights into areas such as teamwork, time-keeping and project management. Any work required is divided amongst the various departments and allocated according to students’ interests. So, alongside the wide range of tasks that are involved, everyone can look forward to a great time as part of the team.
