Service fees for non-EU students on English-language degree programmes

Starting in Winter Semester 2025/26, Kempten University of Applied Sciences will be charging a service fee for international students from countries outside the EU studying on an English-language degree programme.

  • Bachelor of Science in International Engineering
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Master of Science in Global Business Development
  • Master of Science in Corporate Sustainability & Sustainable Finance

The cost will be € 500 per semester – chargeable in addition to the regular semester fee – upon enrolment or re-enrolment . This money will go towards covering the special support and mentoring offered to international students on English-language degree programmes at Kempten University of Applied Sciences.

Only students enrolling for the first time in or after Winter Semester 2025/2026 will be charged this fee; existing students are exempt from this rule.
For further information, please consult the Fees and Charges Regulation at Kempten University of Applied Sciences.

What will the fees be used for?

Foreign students from outside the EU find it challenging to get to get their bearings at a German university. They have many questions and uncertainties before they start studying and once they have enrolled, which generate a greater need for advice and guidance. The service fee is channelled into developing integrational measures and setting students up well for successfully embarking upon a career in Germany. The funds raised this way should help international students get off to a good start and ensure optimum guidance during their studies.

The service fee does not include assistance with finding accommodation. As the university does not run any student halls, it cannot reserve spaces for international students. So you will have to do your own research and apply independently for a room in halls with the various operators. You can see how the process works here .

Who is exempt from paying this fee?

In accordance with Section 2, §14, para. 2 of the Fees and Charges Regulation at Kempten UAS, the following persons are exempt from paying the service fee:
