  • I spent my semester in Kempten, Germany, and I can confidently say it was one of the best semesters of my life.

Southern Germany is full of beautiful hiking spots, lakes to discover, and exciting activities like tobogganing. In Kempten, there was a farmers' market every Wednesday and Saturday, where the sausage and pretzel combination was a must with the others. Kempten may not be a big city, but it’s close to almost everything, and with the regional trains, for which we could get discounted tickets, we could travel almost anywhere within Germany.

Besides the programs we organized ourselves, the university arranged many social events for us, which I think were always very successful. The first two weeks were all about us exchange students, which really brought us together, and I felt great from the very first day. Perhaps my favorite event during those first two weeks was when we went on a hike to Mittelberg. There was still plenty of snow up in the mountains, and we had snowball fights like little kids for hours. I laughed a lot during those few hours and, of course, was quite tired by the end of the day.

  • My name is Polina and I came to Kempten from Chile on a student exchange program. I was absolutely enchanted by this city and country itself! It is very cozy and pleasant to live in. Kempten combines a small town atmosphere with modern amenities. It is very clean and calm, and the nature around is incredible - green parks, mountains and forests, perfect for walking and relaxing.

I especially like the university. The teachers are very open and always ready to help, and the students from different countries create a real international atmosphere. The courses are interesting and relevant, with many opportunities for practice, which is very helpful in learning the language and in my specialty.

Kempten is not only a place for studying, but also for personal growth. I have already made many new friends, and for me it is an incredible experience. Overall, I am very glad that I chose this city for my exchange!

  • From the moment I landed and began my journey by train, I was greeted by the warmth and kindness of the German people. Despite the hurdles of changing trains three times with heavy luggage, the strangers I met offered their help with genuine smiles and gestures, even though language stood between us. When I finally reached Kempton right on time, a wave of relief washed over me as I saw a dear friend, who had already made plans to assist me on my first day.

Kempten has captured my heart with its tranquil beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Initially, I approached learning German with some trepidation, thinking it might be difficult. But the warmth of the people I met has ignited in me a true eagerness to learn and embrace the language. I feel grateful for the connections I've made and the support I've received, which have transformed my experience in such a positive way.
