This two-day training program is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in key academic competencies required for successful study at German universities. Through a combination of theoretical input, practical exercises, group work, and hands-on activities, participants will develop essential skills in academic writing, working with sources, literature research, and scientific presentations, while also gaining insight into German academic culture.

By the end of the training, participants will:

• understand the key features of academic culture in Germany,
• be able to structure and deliver effective scientific presentations,
• apply correct citation and referencing methods,
• critically evaluate academic sources, and
• strengthen their academic writing skills

This training offers an essential foundation for academic success and equips participants with practical tools that can be directly applied to their studies and research projects.

• Academic culture at German universities
• Types of written academic assignments in Germany
• General principles of academic writing and research
• Literature research and academic reading strategies
• Working with sources and referencing
• Responsible use of AI in academic contexts
• Plagiarism
• Academic writing
• Scientific presentations (separate teaching block on Sunday afternoon)
